From the desk chair into the hiking boots, part 3

The farther I made my way up into the mountains, the farther I left my computer, my jobs and the internet behind, the more beautiful and mysterious the world became. The people I met on the way seemed to be a carefully chosen selection of intrepid and genuine explorers. All of them capable of telling the most interesting stories.

Insomnia, headaches, cold limbs, difficulties to breathe, lacking energy, stomach aches, fever and nausea are just a few symptoms that almost everyone in high altitude will have to deal with at least once. I would be lying if I said it wasn’t subject of conversation of the travellers closely sitting around the fireplace in the lodge’s dining rooms during the freezing evenings.

But more importantly, outweighing the hardship by far, are the conversations that let all eyes around the fireplace twinkle and the adventurer await the next day with great anticipation. I know the memories of the mind-blowing experiences and views across the tops of these mountains will almost completely eradicate the recollection of pain, sweat and sore feet within time.
