The roads in China are comparatively smooth. Even in Tibet, most of the roads were asphalt, only few sections gravel. What gets me as a motorbike rider, are the wet roads. It hasn’t rained in a long time, but for some reason the Chinese truck drivers believe their roads are steeper than elsewhere and cool their brakes with water to prevent them from overheating. It’s become so popular, that 90% of all trucks carry a huge water tank and, while rolling downhill, drizzle water on the brakes. That leaves the roads muddy and slippery, at least on all descending sections. Therefore the ascending passages are dry :) …staggering what some people come up with…
