An American in Laos and I had dinner with him. Well, that’s nothing special, but he’s just come from the bordering country Vietnam. I was quite surprised when he told me, that on his several month long journey through Vietnam, he hasn’t had not a single negative encounter. In the middle East, all my American travel acquaintances had to keep their nativity a secret.

Next to Vietnam, Laos is one of the most bombed country in the world. (2.5 tons of explosives per inhabitant). And only because the Ho Chi Minh trail, which was used to transport armament from China into Vietnam, to help fight off the Americans, leads through Laos.
