From the desk chair into the hiking boots, part 5
After six days ascending, the destination was in sight. I reached it on the seventh day, but downhill, back to where I started, I only needed three days. Sherpas and guides occasionally stated that compared to other travellers that they had been taking up and down, I was pretty fast. I may be a tiny bit flattered by that, but I won’t let it get to my head. Because looking at the map, checking the distance the way the crow flies, it’s all appears in a different light. In other words: the same distance in say, Holland for example, on a paved road, on a fancy bicycle… hm, easily done on a sunny day by midday.
