2010-02-16 | Day 535 | 37589 km

Daniel | 2010-02-16

I’m sitting in a shady street cafe, working on the computer, trying to find a job. Because Open-Explorers financial situation has become quite critical. And I’m facing the Mekong river, which isn’t as big as I thought it would be. According to a Laotian guy, the width of the river has considerably decreased within the last few years, since the Chinese built these dams.

Now, Laos is a communist country – the standard of living doesn’t seem bad to me – but people wanting to « flee » the country is an issue. The Mekong separates Laos from Thailand, I’m looking at Thailand buildings right now. So if the Mekong decreases even further, people will be able to simply walk across.
